Moisturizer is only as good as the ingredients it contains. Those with dry complexions “should specifically look for facial moisturizers that contain emollients, humectants, ceramides and niacinamides ,as these ingredients create a proper barrier to seal in moisture.” All of us (greasy, combination, acne-prone, undecided) should avoid “ingredients that could block pores or cause a reaction, such as preservatives and chemicals.”
Whether you get your moisture fix from a splurge-worthy cult-favorite or timeless drugstore formula it doesn’t matter. So my most favorute one is from Olay ❤️
These are the important ingredients to look for in a moisturizers / cream / lotion
- Ceramides: Essential for healthy skin, ceramides help restore and maintain the skin’s natural barrier
- Hyaluronic acid: This ingredient attracts hydration to the skin’s surface and helps the skin retain moisture
- Niacinamide: Helps a compromised skin barrier while improving the appearance of the skin
OLAY Active Hydrating Cream Original
This is my absolute favorite moisterizer. I have gone through more than 10 bottles of this. It locks in all the products from before(toner , serum and treatment). It penetrates quickly, providing your skin with an immediate surge of active moisture to soothe dryness without a greasy feel. Over time, it helps your skin replenish its own essential fluids, so it is softer, smoother and more supple. Non-comedogenic.

Clinique dramatically moisturizer
Liquid gold in my combo-skin opinion !! It’s just the right amount of hydration for my face for the day. I’ve never felt my skin feel THIS soft after applying a moisturizer. I have oily combo skin and it doesn’t add anything but healthy, light moisture. No oily feeling and no sitting on my skin for a long time like other moisturizers.
When applied at night, other moisturizers would leave me with a greasy mess in the morning, but with this I wake up with perfect soft, surprisingly fresh looking skin. A little goes a long way, so while it’s pricey and doesn’t look like much, it will last you longer than you think. The consistency is a mix between a light moisturizer and a gel, feels refreshing and my skin swiftly and happily soaks it up! I think this would be great for all skin types!
